Highest R Value and Sound Insulation (dB) of Glass
The following question is discussed on LINKEDIN, But I think, why not consider the EVA LAMINATED GLASS. The reasons are: first, the EVA Film can blocked 100% UV radiation; Second, the EVA FILM is stronger in SOUND INSULATION than PVB Film.

Highest R Value and sound insulation (dB) that glass can achieve
Hello, currently I have a client who want to make a glass skylight and he require a very high R Value and very high sound insulation. Does any body have a reference what is the highest R Value that the glass can achieve?
Any suggestion of what PVB Layer to use for this 2 purpose?

The requirement of the R Value is 20 SI, which is I am not sure how to calculate it and if this target is achievable. And was googling to find out some reference of the highest R Value.
Another requirement is they want to put some plantation under the skylight so it need the sun light in to make the plants still growing, but it doesn’t transfer the heat in.
The next question in my mind is how to scientificly measure to prove that the R Value is achieved, since the most logical thinking is when the skylight installed people will complain it is hot. But how do we know that the Glass and the whole system of the skylight is blocking certain value of heat transfer.
For additional notes, that the size of the skylight is about 2000×9000 mm full without segments. So I am thinking it will be dangerous to lift it if we use the insulated glass like DGU or even Triple Glazing Unit, and I tend to go on the laminated glass.

When install EVA laminated glass, you will need the glass sealant.
There are many kinds of glass sealant. Some of them will do harm to the EVA laminated glass and make it delamination,having bubbles and color changing.
So it’s better you do some test first to make sure the glass sealant is friendly to the EVA laminated glass.
Now we normally introduce you use the neutral glass sealant.

Wet lamination method and dry lamination with EVA Film
There are two ways of lamination:
Wet lamination with liquid EVA or other materials.
And Dry lamination with EVA Film or PVB film.
Of course there are advantages and disadvantages of both ways.
For wet lamination with liquid EVA, the most advantage is that it’s easy to process and very fast. And the dis advantage is that the laminated glass made with liquid EVA may be not as strong as laminated glass made with the dry EVA inerlayer film or PVB interlayer film.

Technical Features
1. The most advanced dry pumps and turbo molecular pumps are used, therefore the oil backflow to the vacuum chamber and the pollution of the chamber are eliminated, and the operation is reliable and efficient;
2. An isolation chamber structure is used, which has the perfect effect on gas isolation. Lock valve equipment is arranged between the chambers, to offer more convenience for vacuum integration and single chamber maintenance;

4. 6 high-power rotating cathodes and 7 planar ones are arranged, for making double-silver Low-E, temperable Low-E and all kinds of solar-control film products;
5. A multi-point optic detecting and monitoring system is equipped for ensuring film quality and product continuity;
6. Separately distributed process gas including Ar, O and N are equipped, 5-segment gas compensation is used for ensuring the uniformity of the products;
7. A high-performance washing machine is equipped, to realize three grades cleaning;
8. High-speed loading and unloading system are equipped, to achieve a high-speed production.
Nano material and vacuum magnetron sputtering technology is adopted in the inline coating machine. A Low-E thin film is deposited on the glass surface by physical vapor deposition (PVD). The Low-E film has greatly increased thermal insulation of the glass through decreasing the semi-sphere emissivity of the coating surface. The coating machine, with optical-mechanical-electrical integration, is applied for large-area flat glass processing field. It can fabricate temperable Low-E and double-silver Low-E products, as well as all kinds of solar-control coated glass.
